CBR929 Fender Bob

The coolest modification I made to the CBR is the "James Bond" fender bob. I wanted to cut the fender size down to give the rear of the bike a cleaner look. This would require moving the license plate up higher, but that would block the key slot for popping the rear seat. The solution was to use a sprung cabinet hinge to mount the license plate, so that it folds down to reveal the key slot.

Fender with license plate frame and light removed

The essential tool for performing the cutting: Dremel with cutting wheel

After the first cut

I used a french curve to scribe the line for the side and made the cut

And duplicated it on the other side

Notch cut and holes drilled for hinge

The piece of fender cut off is used to make the bracket to hold the license plate, here with the hinge attached

Finished! Frame and license plate attached to bracket, in the down position

And in the up position
